My uncles and cousins were owner operators back in the 80's and I remember when deregulation happened, they weren't very happy about it. The owners of that day had the power to make change if needed be, now the big carriers run the industry. I started in '99 also with M.S Carriers and loved it until swift bought us out.
Driving has always been a scam , run illegal 50 Mike a hour truck and 100 mph dispatch, I have had 100 mph trucks running 18 hours a day rain shine snow whati
I work for g&d out of Morton il and make mileage but they pay 32 dollars a night plus drop pay plus much more, they also pay for holidays and you start with 2 weeks vacation time and they pay me 35 dollars an hour for days off!
Entrepreneur passion and self motivation should make us all move and look better for a company who offers a fair contract with good rates … I looked around one evening and rallied up our loss in revenue ….
I will tell you this for a first hand fact …… we are owner operators for swift and we are on the Cabelas dedicated ……. they short us avg 70 miles per load … they call it “ household mover miles “ ….. we confronted them with the issue and they said “ we use google for our miles “ which is not true because we do the miles in google and they always match what we are supposed to get paid in which swift does not agree …. they continue on with ridiculous excuses and finally we put a number in front of them …. $1480 per week in lost revenue is our number they can’t account for instead they kept giving us ridiculous excuses … finally I nailed it in to them … I said “ basically you guys underbid as much customers to gain their business …… so in turn you loose money ….. and how you gain your loss back is in turn you manipulate your owner operaters by cutting miles from the actual miles you are supposed to be paying them and that’s how you re coup your loss …… well now I’m on the chopping block for laying out real-time facts to them …. USA truck has a IC program that has a load board with 100 percent paid fuel surcharge and along with safety incentives and pays 68 percent of the load … ( similar to SNI) …. we are gonna take our truck their …. swift is sad they manipulate drivers in that fashion and in the end they live their lie with their controlling methods .
Pay per mile or percentage for miles driven. And hours in that 14 hour DOT day not driving your compensated an hourly wage. As well as the 10 hours you are off duty and technically security in your truck.
reality is truckers are abused almost as if the federal pay laws weren't there because trucking companies use a loop hole to force the driver to do the physical labor. If they paid by the hour they would have to pay over time for over 40hrs/wk it would be nice for the driver not so much for the company trying to move stuff as fast as possible.
I believe that since we are now on e-logs we should be paid by them at an hourly rate. Including all dock time, drop & hook, fuel, pre-trip, post trip, and fueling. When your 70 hours run out, and you are not at home. You should also be compensated.
How walmart it's doing it is nice but I think salary pay is the way to go for company drivers
I ain't gonna lied we need to go on strike I work for Schneider and I do a lot of free labor
Start paying drivers $30+ an hour and that will end the shortage!

One word "union", this would fix everything
$80-$90k a year!! Period
How about we get together and form our own company? Pay our selves what we deserve. By Truckers 4 Truckers
BTW ty for your service
I'd love to see these people that call us unskilled get in a truck and do it…they couldn't
40% of the load
Percentage pay of the load and complete transparency of load payment to the trucking company and also free healthcare
What is activity pay? Is that when you are basically moving all the time?
One of them should be that companies can't ruin your dac before going to court or we should be able to fight it before they can ruin it.

Give drivers 26% to 30% of the load and better home time!
$40.00 an hour driving, $20.00 sleeping , paperwork, etc
