Join us for another Ranch Talk Livestream. Today we will be taking your questions as well as giving you updates from around the ranch, the garden and whats …
You would be very happy with a calving strap. It is about 2 feet long and an inch wide. The short length allows a good pull when calf is almost out and it won't hurt the hands. I can put one in my pocket in a mini ziplock bag and another in the ATV or calving supplies. It's super quiet so my husband can use it to sneak up and assist a calf in the pasture many times (my husband learned about the Douglas Lake Sneak method of assisting on pasture from the Canadian Cattleman magazine). He won't ever go back to calving chains and handles.
hey mike and erin not sure if you guys have done a video like this before, but was wondering if you ever did a Q & A talking about what ranching was like when you guys first started out. Big mistakes you made, tough lessons to learn, real life daily frustrations, some of the not so great thoughts you guys had at first?!? Love the videos, can't for more.
What breeds of cattle do You have on the ranch? Have You ever considered putting some Contenial Breeds bulls such as Charolais, Maine Anjou, and/or Limosuin on your cows? That way you can improve the yield grade on the commercial calves, thus, increasing your total revenue to your operation. Do You KNOW what a yield grade on beef carcasses is?
Several years ago I was at the port of entry in Cheyenne and mentioned how windy it was. The d.o.t. officer kindly pointed out that the trees were still upright, so it was only breezy for the state of Wyoming.
Watching this live stream was the first video of yours I watched. It popped up in my feed after doing a google search on Wyoming. I have since gone thru and watched ALL your videos over the last 2 days. Love your channel!
Hey, How about you post another 100 videos for me 🙂 lol
I don't know about you Mike and Erin but I often wished that stupid thumbs down button didn't exist on some utubers videos. you're doing a fantastic job👍👍. I don't know WHY there's a stupid thumbs down button on your channel too for that matter (which should be removed in my opinion ! ) but I'm not going to suggest where any of those people who hit any of the dislike button on your channels along with the trolls too !!!, take care after your dog guys because over the years dogs are my trusted carrying friends have been there for me always in my hard and trouble personal time's when people just treat you worser than them. 👍 🐕🐶 🐩.
Just a thought for extra heat in the high tunnel I've seen alot of people use black barrels of water in unheated greenhouses to generate some additional heat. I have no idea if it would work as well in your situation but thought I'd throw it out there. I'm new to your channel but so far the content is great! Thanks for putting yourselves out there.
Border Collie or Australian Shepherd. But you will have to spend some time on herding specific training. I have two border collies myself and love them. Herding comes naturally but the commands do not. 🙂 They have helped get my in-laws horses back inside the gate a few times. I don't have any experience with Ausies, but they were bread specifically as cattle dogs.
Minerals on the ranch in the past are very interesting. How long was this resource producing? Are energy companies still exploring or producing in your part of Wyoming? Thanks for your content.
It would not be worth you getting a working dog. A dog needs worked every few days. As you run Cattle if you move them every few days on Electric Fence they get to know that when the fence moves it means new food. Unless your running sheep or cattle long distances the dog will not get enough work to keep it happy/ safe.
Mike, I learned about a hay called Sain Foin. It's recommended to avoid the bloat that comes from alalfa and other beneficial properties. Have you considered it?
Mike you should do a video on country of origin you have a lot bigger base than me an I think it’s an important issue that a lot of people don’t know about your very good at explaining things so people can understand people need to know what their eating an why the government took it off in favor of feed lots an packing houses keep up the good work love the channel
I missed the live feed. Sighs….I am curious as to why you both abandoned, left established broadcast careers? I am glad you're Ranching though. Love the vlog.
Really enjoyed the live chat! Did find out about the supper chat! It does not work on iPhone. Need to be on your pc or laptop! When is your next live Q/A?

The Cost of Ranching is a good video. It helps people understand what is involved. Acres per pair that depends…
Missed it last night. Catching up now.
Erin~http://www.naturesway.com/Brands/Umcka works great for helping with colds.
